Worldview Sri Lanka is preparing necessary plans and infrastructure to establish CHN- Community Health Support (Volunteer) Network to assist all Pilot MDG Villages to achieve MDG Health Targets.

It is proposed to establish CHNs from January 2007. This is one of the recommendations made by Community Leaders at the Multi Stakeholder National MDG Conference held in September 2006. According to this five(5) from each Pilot MDG Village will be trained on how to support and promote health related targets at their respective villages.

MDG Team, Worldview Sri Lanka has designed a special Community Library Project aiming at creating reading opportunities in all Model MDG Villages. A Survey conducted by the MDG Team revealed that some of these poverty pockets (Model MDG Villages) hardly receive even newspapers. It is pathetic to report that the whole village receives only one Sunday newspaper weekly while discussions are focused on Global Village status in the Internet Age. The most of the time they receive this newspaper after one week’s time. Of course some villages have better access to newspapers.
